BHUBANESWAR: Criminals continued to keep the City Police on their toes when they hurled bombs at a private mining company’s office near Jayadev Vihar on Thursday evening. Since the office building was closed, no one was injured. The bombs, however, shattered the glass panes of doors and windows. The incident occurred between 8.30 and 9 pm, sources said. Preliminary investigation revealed that two bombs landed near the office of Sirajuddin Mines, located close to Aditya Birla Group office. The area comes under Sahid Nagar Police limits and is located across the road facing Pal Heights. Who hurled the bombs was not known since there was no one at the office building when the bombing took place. Two big holes were reported in the glass panes. Police suspect that the bombing might have been carried out for extortion purposes as it is common practice to send a message of caution.A police team reached the spot and made preliminary investigation but no headway has been made as yet.
