HYDERABAD: Relatives of a 65-year-old person, who were searching for his body for more than three weeks, today staged a dharna at the Osmania general hospital mortuary after they found that the body was missing from there. The hospital authorities, however, denied any foul play and said the body was handed over to an NGO for performing final rites.The body which went missing was of P Paul, a native of Guntur, who stayed at Madhapur and worked as a housekeeping supervisor at Shilparamam.On May 6, he went to Shapur Nagar at Jeedimetla on some work and went missing.The next day, his dead body was found on airport road by the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) police and it was shifted to the OGH mortuary for post-mortem. The RGIA cops, who could not ascertain the identity of the deceased then, registered a case.Paul’s son, Vijay Paul, who stays at Guntur, on failing to contact his father over phone, came to the city and lodged a missing case with the Madhapur police and alerted the Jeedimetla police.On May 17, Vijay Paul noticed his father’s photograph in the unknown bodies list displayed at Jeedimetla police station and approached the RGIA police who registered the case.Vijay, along with cops, went to OGH mortuary where they were told that the body was handed over to Satya Harischandra Foundation for funeral on May 14. But the officials of the Foundation denied disposing the body pertaining to the case. When contacted again on May 25, the OGH authorities told he body was handed over to the Foundation on May 23.Irked by the attitude of the authorities, the relatives of the deceased today staged a dharna at the OGH.
