Bird flu: Culling begins in Betanati

BARIPADA: After Keranga in Khurda district, mass culling of poultry birds has begun in Betanati block in Mayurbhanj district, following fresh detection of deadly bird flu in Bahanada village. Nearly 1,802 birds, including crows and ducks, were culled on Wednesday. Culling will also be taken up in Mahulia, Bahanada, Chhatrapur, Chhachinapada, Badchuruni Udipura and Khamari villages under Betanati block. A team from the Health Department and a Central team have reached Betanati to take stock of the situation. Nearly 71,701 birds have been vaccinated.
