CHENNAI: Higher Education Minister P Palaniappan on Tuesday introduced a Bill to wind up the five Anna Universities of Technology created during the DMK regime and to bring all engineering colleges in the State under the Anna University, Chennai again. During the DMK regime, the Anna University was made as a unitary type of varsity after the creation of these five universities.The Bill said the Vice Chancellors, the Registrars, the Finance Officers, Directors, the Controllers of Examinations and other Faculty of these four Universities shall cease to hold office once the date of enforcement of the Tamil Nadu University Laws (Amendment and Repeal) Act, 2011 and all these persons shall be reverted to the post which they held before their appointment to their current positions.The Bill said after the establishment of the five Anna Universities, there has been confusion among the students since each university is following its own syllabus. There is a lot of difference in examining the skills of the students, as each university is following different procedures. The Common Board comprising the Vice Chancellors formed to examine the above issues could not find suitable solutions.
