In order to strengthen its reach among weaker sections, the new Bihar Cabinet on Thursday approved more than Rs 245 crore to link women of weaker sections and minority communities with school education.
The decision to allocate fund under the 'Mahadalit, minorities and extremely backward castes akshar anchal yojna' was made at a meeting of state cabinet presided over by new Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, Principal Secretary Cabinet Coordination Brajesh Mahrotra told reporters.
The plan aims to link eight lakh mahadalit and EBC women and four lakh of them hail from minority communities with basic school education. It also entails children in the age group of 6-14 hailing from mahadalit, minorities and EBCs with school education.
The Bihar Cabinet gave its nod to 15 proposals of various departments like education, health, power, social welfare and agriculture.
