ASI worker falls from temple gopuram, dies

VELLORE: An employee of the archaeology department fell from the Jalagandeswarar temple gopuram and died, on Monday morning.Palani (48) of Vallimalai climbed the Rajagopuram of the Jalagandeswarar temple in Vellore on Monday to remove shrubs that had grown on the gopuram. The corner pillar on which he stood, broke and he fell on the ground. He was rushed to the Vellore GH where he succumbed to injuries. Vellore North police filed a case in this regard.Missing woman found deadThe body of a woman was found on an empty plot near Sivsakthi Nagar in Katpadi on Monday. She was later identified as Rani (52) of Senguttai near Katpadi, who was reported missing since Sunday evening.Preliminary investigations revealed that she had received injuries on her head. However, the jewellery she was wearing has not been stolen.Katpadi police have registered a case and further investigations are on.
