HYDERABAD: The Congress high command is said to have boxed the ears of chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana over the defection of three MLAs from the Congress to the TRS.Sources said that after the three MLAs -- Jupally Krishna Rao, S Satyanarayana and T Rajaiah -- announced their departure on Sunday, AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad asked both leaders why they had not reacted despite the TRS making no secret of its intention to spirit away the trio. What has alarmed Delhi is the fact that the migration is from a ruling party to a small party with 12 MLAs, quite a rare occurrence.Azad is learnt to have asked the chief minister and the PCC chief to make a coordinated effort to prevent further erosion of the party’s numbers.Accordingly, the PCC chief sat down with the chief minister Monday to discuss damage control measures.Sources said it has been decided to call a meeting with Telangna MLAs to persuade them not to leave. One of the proposals discussed was to use the upcoming Rachabanda II programme to shower largesse in T segements where Congress MLAs are potential defector. Apart from their restlessness on Telangana, MLAs from the region are sore with the CM for his cool response to their requests for funds for their constituencies. In the new scenario, the chief minister is likely to be more forthcoming. Sources said there are at least eight more MLAs who are weighing their prospects in the TRS.These are from Warangal, Karimnagar, Medak, Mahbubangar and Nalonda districts.Their flirtation with TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao is making the PCC president and CM nervous.
