An authority soon for Water Resources department

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Water Resources Department is all set to get a regulatory authority modelled on the Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KSERC).  The Cabinet on Wednesday approved the proposal for a Kerala State Water Resources Authority Bill on the lines of the KSERC which is the regulatory body for the state’s power sector. The authority will have regulatory powers over water supply and irrigation.Various aspects such as water tariff will be decided by the authority, CM Oommen Chandy told a post-Cabinet briefing here. “It is being set up on the recommendations of the Finance Commission,” he said.
