THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum here has ordered Air Arabia, the budget airlines operated by the Sharjah emirate in the UAE, to pay compensation to a passenger for the loss of his baggage.Dr Abdul Kareem, a resident of Thirumala, had complained to the airline authorities when he found that a baggage was missing after his trip to Thiruvananthapuram Airport from Sharjah Airport on April 25, 2010. Later, he  filed a compliant with the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum here as the authorities failed to address his complaint.The Bench, comprising the chairman, G Shivaprasad, and members Beena and Sreela, observed on December 15, 2011 that the loss of luggage from the aircraft was a serious lapse on the part of the airline authorities and they had the responsibility to return it to the passenger, while awarding a compensation of ` 5,000, in addition to $ 300. Counsels S Roshan and Srevaraham N G Mahesh appeared for the petitioner.
