Five-time world champion and Olympic bronze-medallist Indian woman boxer MC Mary Kom cancelled her scheduled visit at the Jaipur Literature Festival.
"Her baby is unwell after her recent London trip, so unfortunately she had to cancel the visit to Jaipur," her manager Jimmy Levion told PTI.
Mary Kom was slated to participate in a session titled 'Pulling the Punches' part of the "Real Woman Series" where she was marked to be in conversation with author Amrita Tripathi.
In the absence of the sportswoman, who had recently brought out her autobiography titled "Unbreakable," the session was renamed 'No more Punches'.
Author Urvashi Bhutalia, global feminist Gloria Steinem and Ruchira Gupta, Founder President of Apne Aap Women Worldwide, an anti-sex trafficking NGO were in conversation during the session.
Other personalities who skipped the five-day festival set to conclude today were Union Minister Shashi Tharoor and Bollywood lyricist-script writer Javed Akhtar.
Tharoor skipped the festival due to his wife's death. He was set to participate in sessions including "The paradoxes of growth and development" and 'The cricket novel'. He was also supposed to launch the book 'Travails with Chachi' written by Union Minister Salman Khurshid's wife Louise Khurshid, which was later by Khurshid himself.
Also the 69-year-old lyricist Javed Akthar was scheduled to participate in a session titled "Urdu Mein Hindustan" in conversation with popular Hindi poet Ashok Vajpayi. In Akhtar's absence, the session was taken over by lyricist Prasoon Joshi and singer Vidya Shah.
