Actors kin alleges police harassment

HYDERABAD/VISAKHAPATNAM: The State Human Rights Commission on Thursday directed director-general of police V Dinesh Reddy to probe alleged harassment of G Subash Chandra Bose, a cousin of veteran actor Krishna, by Visakhapatnam police commissioner J Purnachandra Rao and to submit a comprehensive report.Bose lodged a complaint with the SHRC alleging that the Visakhapatnam police commissioner was harassing him by registering cases against him alleging his involvement in gambling.He furnished in his petition that on the directions of Purnachandra Rao, the Anandapuram police registered several cases and arrested him. "When my relatives and friends gathered at my farm house located in the Anandapuram police station limits on the occasion of Kartika Poornima, police raided the place and arrested all guests and registered cases against them alleging that they were gambling.When I asked the reason for the arrest, the police also arrested me and booked cases,'' he alleged in his petition. After receiving the petition, SHRC acting chairperson Kakamanu Peda Peri Reddy directed the DGP to submit a comprehensive report on the incident by December 9. Sources, however, said Bose was allegedly running a gambling house at his farm house which is spread over 120 acres and was arrested twice in the past _ once last year and again last week.A rowdy-sheet was opened against him a couple of years ago as he did not mend his ways despite being asked by the police to shut down gambling."The police raided the farm house on specific information that it was being used by him for organising gambling," the sources said
