Aam Admi Party (AAP) on Friday urged the district administration of East Singhbhum to initiate steps to look into the acute power crisis faced by the people for last few days.

A delegation of AAP led by its leader Kumar Chandra Mardi who has contested the ensuing Lok Sabha elections from Jamshedpur constituency, met the Deputy Commissioner Dr Amitabh Kaushal to apprise the situation particularly in Mango area.

AAP leaders claimed that students were the worst sufferers of acute power crisis.

Power supply remain disconnected for hours during the last several days leading to water crisis, they said.

The leaders have threatened to launch an agitation and even lock the offices of the Jharkhand State Electricity Board if necessary steps were not taken to improve the situation immediately.

Meanwhile, the people of the steel city here heaved a sigh of relief from the heat wave after rains lashed the city in the evening.

According to MeT office sources, Jamshedpur received 33.2 mm rainfall between 5.30 and 8.30 PM.

The maximum temperature, which was hovering between 41 deg C to 43 deg C, was recorded at 41.5 degrees Celsius on Friday.
