Mammoth statuettes reflecting the ancient Egyptian era placed at different spots in the venue and a royal black and gold background transformed Le Royal Meridien into an Egyptian palace. It was luxury to the fore there on Sunday when Anusha Dayanidhi launched her event management company Nefertari, a first-of-its-kind venture, as she puts it.This is a dream come true for Anusha, a lawyer-turned-entrepreneur. “It was an overnight dream and I immediately pitched the idea to my husband. Many are surprised that a lawyer like me has taken the plunge into the event management industry. But I’m a creative person and want to showcase that, which is why Nefertari was born,” she says.A highlight of the event was the launch of the logo through 3-D architectural mapping on the wide facade of the venue. Following this was a performance of the 'Kolaveri' number by its composer Anirudh Ravichandran. The evening featured a fashion show of Chennai-based designer Sidney Sladen’s spring/summer 2012 collection, titled The Flight of the Phoenix. The runway saw the country’s finest models parading down the ramp in Sidney’s exquisite creations. What added to it was the rampwalk by actors from tinsel town. Arya, Jiiva, Tapsee, Sonia Agarwal and Bollywood actor Nargis Fakhri made their appearance on the ramp.Adding her personal touch to everything, Anusha said, “I made sure the design and conceptualisation had my participation. We even gave away the invitation for the event with a sapling. The return gifts were handmade coasters and chocolates wrapped in a box.”A proud moment for all was seeing an event dedicated to children with Down’s syndrome seamlessly unveil. Nefertari will collaborate with Arvind Foundation and work towards raising awareness on Down’s syndrome.
