A shocking incident has come to light from Arwal district in Bihar where a 76-year-old retired teacher, Birbal Prasad, allegedly murdered his wife, Sumati Sinha, and dismembered her body. The gruesome crime took place in Jamuhari village under Mehendia police station. According to police, Prasad suspected his wife of having an extramarital affair with his deceased uncle who passed away 8 years ago. In a fit of rage, he used a sharp weapon to cut her body into pieces. The accused has claimed to have inflicted 57 wounds, symbolising the number of years of their marriage.
Police were alerted to the crime when the couple’s grandson discovered the horrific scene upon returning from school. Prasad was subsequently arrested and a forensic team is investigating the crime scene. The murder weapon has been seized. A forensic team has been deployed to examine the victim’s body for further evidence.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Arwal, Rajendra Kumar Bhil, confirmed the arrest of the retired teacher who confessed to dismembering his wife. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody.
Police revealed that Prasad confined other family members to a room before committing the heinous act. The horrific crime was discovered around 1 pm when the couple’s grandson returned home from school and found the house covered in blood. In a terrifying standoff, Prasad threatened his daughter-in-law, grandson, and nearby villagers while wielding a sharp weapon.
Initial investigations indicated that the victim’s body was dismembered into approximately 12 pieces. The gruesome details of the murder have sent shockwaves through the community, with residents grappling to comprehend the horrific crime.
