An employee of Tata Steel, who was undergoing treatment at the Psychiatry department of the Tata Main Hospital (TMH), on Thursday committed suicide on the roof of Outside Patient Department of the hospital in Jamshedpur.
The victim identified as over 54-year-old T Ramana Rao, who was an employee of Tata Steel, hanged himself to death after he registered his name for consultation with a doctor of TMH, police sources said.
A suicide note was recovered but could not provide details of the content immediately. The body has been sent for post-mortem, police added.
Meanwhile, describing the incident as tragic, Tata Steel in a press statement stated that Rao, a Tata Steel employee based in Jamshedpur, was found dead within the TMH premises. Rao, who was undergoing treatment at the Psychiatry Department of the hospital, was scheduled for an appointment later on Thursday day.
The Tata Steel family is saddened by his unfortunate demise and extends its deepest sympathies and support to the bereaved family, the statement added.
