HYDERABAD: A youngster, who turned to chain snatching to meet his expenses for lavish lifestyle was arrested on Wednesday and nearly half kg gold ornaments recovered. Syed Amer (23), is a resident of Alibagh in Kalapather area and a degree student.Police said Amer got addicted to bad habits and to meet his expenses, he started committing chain snatchings with help from his friend, Javeed who is yet to be nabbed. Amer was caught speeding on a Honda CBZ bike under suspicious circumstances near the Mumtaz College in Malakpet on Tuesday evening.When frisked by police, they found three gold chains.Based on his confession, the remaining stolen gold ornaments, all weighing 48 tola and valued at `13.50 lakh, were recovered.Police said Amer along with Javeed were involved in 11 snatching cases in Amberpet, Saidabad, Malakpet and Chaderghat.They have pledged the stolen gold ornaments at a pawn broker, Mistrilal and the same was recovered.The recovered ornaments include gold chains, necklaces and a pustalatadu.Police also recovered a CBZ and Yamaha R-15 motorcycles from the accused.Police said the accused used to target lonely women walking at isolated places.
