Ram Sahay was attacked by his second wife Saroj with a sharp knife Wednesday night.
The bleeding man was taken by his family members Thursday to the SN Medical College where doctors described his condition as critical.
Sahay married Saroj two years ago after divorcing his first wife, family members said. But he had regular disputes with his wife.
Police said a case has been registered and investigation is on.
