21-year-old student drowns in pit

BANGALORE: A 21-year-old BE student died, after he drowned in a pit atop Ramadevara Hill, in Ramanagaram rural police station limits on Saturday morning.The deceased has been identified as Karthik, an engineering student of Ramanagar government college.He was a resident of Mandipete in Channapatana town.The police said that Karthik had gone to the hill in the morning with his friend Hanume Gowda .The duo offered puja at a temple on the hill and later went near the pit.Karthik then reportedly slipped and fell into the pit, which was very deep and he drowned.“Following a few suicides and accidental deaths, the pit was fenced to avoid such mishaps.Despite this the duo had gone near the pit and it ended in a tragedy,” the police added.Ramanagarm rural police have registered a case of unnatural death.
