HYDERABAD: The clash between two groups Near Rajivnagar Idgah in Sanjeevareddy Nagar on Thursday night led to the arrest of 11 persons, who were later released on personal bonds. SR Nagar inspector P Krishna Murthy said a particular group was performing pooja on the occasion of Kartheeka Poornima at a GHMC park at Rajivnagar when another group is said to have taken objection and demanded it be stopped. They also objected to distribution of ‘prasadam’.The clash between two groups took place when a particular group started beating some people in the park. In retaliation, a few people began throwing stones.The incident took place around 11.40 p.m on Thursday night. Initially, Hyderabad police control room received a call from unidentified person regarding the clash between two particular groups and they alerted SR nagar police.They rushed to the spot and resorted to mild lathi charge to disperse the people.Police picked up some people belonging to a particular community. “As soon as we picked up some persons and shifted them to the police station, a few persons belonging to the other community came and entered into heated arguments inside the police station. We took 11 persons in custody on Thursday night and released them on Friday,’’ the inspector said.Meanwhile, scores of BJP activists staged dharna in front of SR Nagar police station demanding immediate release of BJP and RSS activists arrested by police.The BJP city wing secretary Varma alleged that police had harassed them physically after arresting the RSS and BJP activists in connection with the clash.
