KAKINADA: The police on Wednesday arrested 11 kidnappers in connection with the kidnap of an industrialist and seized Rs 2.88 lakh cash, three cars and 12 mobile phones from them.Speaking to mediapersons on Wednesday, East Godavari SP Dr C Trivikrama Varma said Ravus Power Ltd chairman Maddipati Venkata Satya Ramu was kidnapped on April 5 while he was returning from his power plant in Duppulapudi village of Anaparthi mandal. The kidnappers threatened to kill him if a ransom of Rs 10 crore was not paid.As Ramu failed to return home till April 17, his relative Maddipati Sambhoji Rao lodged a complaint in Anaparthi police station. The police started investigation and located the Benz car in Rajahmundry railway station.The kidnapped industrialist came to Anaparthi police station on April 10 and complained that some persons came in three cars, kidnapped him and shifted him to Hyderabad, the SP said.Ramu agreed to give Rs 1.50 crore as ransom and deposited Rs 50 lakh in Axis Bank, Rajahmundry and Rs 1 crore was given to the kidnappers in Hyderabad. Later the accused released Ramu, the SP said.
