10-day-old girl buried alive by parents

ANANTAPUR: In a shocking incident, a 10-day -old girl was buried alive by her own parents. The incident happened in Kamarlapalle village of Kalyanadurgam mandal on Friday and came to light on Saturday, when the cowherds found the baby alive. They shifted her to Kalyanadurgam RDT hospital with help of 108 services.The baby girl was identified as the daughter of Latha (23) and Shekar (26) of Yenumala Dodi village in Kundurthi mandal. The couple, who married a year ago and the baby girl was born with a cleft lip. They brought her to Kalyanadurgam hospital, near Latha's native village Kamaralapalle. When the doctors said that an operation was needed to rectify the deformity, they took back the child and buried her near a tank on the village outskirts on way to their home.The reasons for the inhuman act was said to be the inability of the parents to bear the cost of the operation. When the doctors called the couple, they came to the hospital and had reportedly agreed to take back the child.
