According to Spanish media reports, former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola is on his way to Manchester United to replace Alex Ferguson.
Both men have been sighted in New York at the expense of an elite UEFA Coaches Forum, giving rise to the speculation.
Ferguson, aged 70, has been with the Red Devils for the past 25 years and of late he has given indications that he is mulling retirement and that the ongoing season is his last as United manager.
Guardiola on the other hand quit Barcelona at the end of the last season. The 41-year-old won 14 titles during his four-year stay at the Camp Nou. He is presently on sabbatical.
It’s difficult to say how much truth is in the reports but if Guardiola does move to Old Trafford, it will be a case of a master replacing a master, and the Red Devils fans surely won’t mind that.
