Patrick Bamford brought down a long ball to swivel and strike the perfect volley from 20 yeards out.

Patrick Bamford scored a stunning goal with a chest down and on the turn volley that is surely to be a contender for the Puskas award, the best goal of the season.

The English forward, scored the breathtaking goal in Leeds United’s 3-0 win over Peterborough in the FA Cup.

After the match, when Bamford was asked about scoring the stunner, he said that it did not matter who he scored but was pleased to.

“Only counts as one. They all count the same I guess. I’m just make the movement and behind the defernder and made a few runs during the game. As soon as I put it down on my chest, I just had one thing my mind really. And I didn’t realise until I actually hit the ball that the defender had slipped. I could have taken it on but I’d already made up my mind I was going to shoot,” he recalled.

Gary Lineker reacting to the strike, said: “There was a wonder goal scored earlier today and it came from Patrick Bamford, Have a little look at this one, guys.

“What a beauty, hey? That was to make it 2-0.”

Danny Murphy responded: “Oh, they’re the ones you want on your showreel. They are the ones you want.”

Martin Keown added: “Off the chest is a lovely feeling. I did that in my school days. Scored a volley for Brighton back in the day.”

Leeds United will take on Plymouth Argyle in the fourth round of the FA Cup, as holders Manchester City face a tricky trip to Tottenham Hotspur and in-form Aston Villa have been drawn to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Twelve-time FA Cup winners Manchester United face a fourth-round match at either Newport County or Eastleigh after their 2-0 win at Wigan Athletic on Monday.

Fulham welcome Newcastle United and Sheffield United host Brighton & Hove Albion in other all-Premier League ties, with matches scheduled to be played over the Jan. 27-28 weekend.

League leaders Liverpool, who knocked Arsenal out in the third round, received a more favourable draw on Monday.

Jurgen Klopp’s team will host the winners of the replay between Norwich City and Bristol Rovers.

Sixth-tier Maidstone United, the lowest-ranked side left in the competition, travel to second-tier Ipswich Town.

The winners of the replay between Crystal Palace and Everton will host either Luton Town or Bolton Wanderers.

League Two side Wrexham A.F.C., owned by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney and who reached the fourth round last season, will visit Blackburn Rovers.
