The Blues reportedly had offered £10m in cash plus a player, either Juan Mata or David Luiz, for Rooney.
Manchester United have stuck to their stance of not putting Wayne Rooney up for sale by rejecting Chelsea's bid, reported to be £10m in cash plus a player, reports BBC.
The Blues were reportedly willing to offer either Juan Mata or David Luiz plus the cash for the 27-year-old Rooney, but the Red Devils once again made their position on Rooney very clear by outright rejecting the offer.
Meanwhile, Rooney has been left angered and confused by his club when the new United boss David Moyes hinted that he wants to retain Rooney as backup for Robin van Persie. "Overall, my thought on Wayne is that if for any reason we had an injury to Robin van Persie, we are going to need him. I want as many options as possible," Moyes has said.
