Berbatov set for Man United exit: Ferguson
Premier League's topscorer last season, the striker has struggled for first-team football this term.

Bilbao, Spain: Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has admitted that record signing Dimitar Berbatov could leave the club at the end of the season.

The Bulgarian finished as the Premier League's topscorer last season, but has struggled for first-team football this term, making just 10 league appearances. Given his age, the 31-year-old may wish to leave in order to ensure playing time, with opportunities limited at Old Trafford.

The striker has been used sparingly since being left out of the squad for the Champions League final loss to Barcelona last year, and Ferguson said the 30.75-million-Pound signing is looking for first-team football.

"His concern is not getting first-team football," said Ferguson. "At 31, he is looking at first-team football."

While Ferguson said the club will take up the 31-year-old striker's option, he added: "It is difficult for me to guarantee that (...) it may lead to him looking elsewhere."

"We will be taking up the option on his contract but, having had chats with him, I understand he wants to get first-team football."

"It is something we need to consider at the end of the season. For a player of his age and his ability, it is disappointing for him that he is not getting first-team football."

"We will look at the end of the season but until then, he remains at United."

Berbatov has 56 goals in 147 appearances for United since joining from Tottenham in 2008.

Berbatov was included in the squad for Thursday's Europa League match at Athletic Bilbao.
