Kailash Kher Shares His Vision For Noida Film City: 'To Create A Large Creative Industry Where...' | Exclusive
Kailash Kher shared his visionary ideas for Noida's upcoming Film City, emphasizing the need for a Spiritual Music Center and a broader cultural revolution.

Back in the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath unveiled a grand plan: a sprawling new Film City in Gautam Budh Nagar, Noida, set to be the largest and most beautiful in the country. Fast forward four years, and the project is moving full steam ahead. But what’s really exciting is the vision behind it, especially the creative insights from none other than Kailash Kher, who played a key role in shaping the dream for this new hub of creativity.

In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Kailash Kher shared the backstory of this ambitious project and his unique vision for Noida’s Film City. “So, you see, this has been in the works for quite some time. We’ve been together since the very first meeting back in 2020, and naturally, as India is changing, there’s a need for many other things to change as well. Perhaps, this is also part of that change—to create a film industry or a large creative industry where something truly new can happen,” Kher explained, hinting at the broader cultural revolution he hopes this Film City will inspire.

But Kher’s vision goes beyond just another studio lot or production house. He’s thinking bigger, much bigger. “My idea was to expand the scope of music, film, and all creative arts on this earth, not just by saying, ‘Let’s create another industry or another film,’ which would just become another franchise. True innovation happens when you approach something in a completely new way,” he continued.

And what’s Kailash Kher’s new way? A Spiritual Music Center and Healing Center where music isn’t just entertainment but a form of deep, soulful expression. He revealed, “I suggested that there should be a Spiritual Music Center, a Healing Center, where every year, a grand concert of spiritual music should be held because the quality of such music speaks for itself.”

“You see, even love needs to be expressed in a certain way. Look at how much ‘I love you’ is branded. If you ask Google, which word is most frequently branded worldwide, you’ll be surprised. It’s overused and oversaturated to the point of becoming meaningless,” Kher remarked, offering a thought-provoking critique of modern expressions of emotion. “Whereas spirituality is something that works even in silence. When you feel peace, you don’t need to make noise; just live the moment.”

His plan for Noida’s Film City includes yearly grand concerts of spiritual music, festivals, and even awards dedicated to this genre. “There should be festivals for spiritual music, awards for spiritual music. Make it big, because music plays a role in both life and death. Music is present in every aspect of life—when you’re sad, after a breakup, when you’re proposing to someone—music is there for every emotional moment in life. But we’re taking music too lightly, sticking to the same old film music for everything.”

And then, in true Kailash Kher fashion, he adds a dash of humor to his visionary ideas. “Let me share a funny example with you. There’s a song that’s played frequently during the day, and one of its lines goes, ‘Happy Birthday to you, Sunita.’ Now, not everyone is named Sunita, come on, man! It’s time to change things. In a country as big as ours, with so many people, surely someone can create something new?”

Kailash Kher isn’t just talking the talk—he’s walking the walk. “Two years ago, we released a birthday song in Sanskrit and Hindi. We didn’t just say ‘Happy Birthday.’ We said ‘Janmadin Mubarak Ho’ (Happy Birthday in Hindi) and ‘Bada hi shubh din, aapka janmadin ki shubhkamna’ (A very auspicious day, best wishes on your birthday),” he proudly shared.

As Noida’s Film City continues to take shape, it’s clear that with visionaries like Kailash Kher involved, it won’t just be a hub for films—it could very well become a center for cultural and spiritual innovation, where creativity is celebrated in its most profound and transformative forms.
