As per the ANI report, Naresh Kumar, an IMD scientist, confirmed that the monsoon is right now in an active phase and significant precipitation is expected in states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya and Sikkim. Kumar even predicted that conditions could turn out to be favourable with the further development of the monsoon. Rain has already done massive damage in Kapkot, a village located in Bageshwar, with several houses facing the brunt of extreme weather conditions.
Meanwhile, the administration of Bageshwar is understood to be focused on the opening of roads that were closed due to adverse weather. The closure of the roads had impacted local people who even suffered financial losses due to this. District Disaster Management Officer Shikha Suyal said many rural roads, including the Munar-Gasi and Kapkot-Toli streets, have been heavily damaged.
“The heaviest rain of 20 mm in the district was recorded in the Kapkot area on Monday morning. The initial monsoon rain has severely damaged several rural roads, with the Munar-Gasi and Kapkot-Toli streets completely washed out,” Shikha Suyal was quoted as saying by The Times of India. As per reports, some houses in the locality have been destroyed and news of animals being trapped under cowsheds are also coming in.
