Taleah Jayne defies expectations, earning a significant income as a tire fitter in the mines.

Twenty-one-year-old Taleah Jayne, hailing from Perth, Australia, is defying expectations by raking in significant earnings at a remarkably young age. Surprisingly, her source of income comes from an unexpected field, tire fitting in the mines. As a trainee in this high-risk profession, Taleah spends eight months working on a fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) basis, followed by four months of rest at home.

According to a report by The Sun, Taleah Jayne acknowledges the inherent dangers associated with her role, citing tire fitting as a critical risk occupation. She says, “Tyre fitting is considered a critical risk. The reason we get paid so much, even as trainees, is because the risk of dying whilst working on a job is a lot higher than other careers. I love being surrounded by people who are all making the same sacrifice as me.”

Working under the scorching 40°C sun for 12 hours a day, Taleah makes sacrifices but finds solace in the camaraderie of colleagues who share similar sacrifices. However, she concedes that missing out on special events is the downside of her demanding job. “The downside is working 12 hours in the 40°C sun and missing out on all the other special events, Taleah Jayne added, quoted The Sun.

On the other side of the world, in Broxburn, a 19-year-old named Bruce Lamb is starting an unconventional journey in the funeral industry. Surprising many, Bruce chose to follow in his father’s footsteps and is currently employed by Scotmid Funerals at Forrester Park in Edinburgh.

Bruce, who has attended several family funerals, expresses a personal connection to the profound impact of death and passing. His fascination with large funeral corteges, experienced since childhood, led him to explore the world of grief and funeral processes. Working at Scotmid Funerals, Bruce appreciates the opportunity to delve deeper into the entire funeral experience, from initial conversations with the bereaved to the services and aftercare. He highlights the unique atmosphere created by funeral processions.

As per The Sun, Bruce said, “I have attended several family funerals, so death and passing has had a profound effect on me. When I was younger, I would also be transfixed when a large cortege appeared on the road as it creates a unique atmosphere as soon as they appear.”

Further, Bruce emphasized the importance of remembrance trees and Christmas services in extending support to those mourning their loved ones. He added, “I have found it fascinating to learn about grief and how the whole funeral experience, from the first conversation to the service itself and aftercare, and how this process helps the bereaved. Since starting at Scotmid Funerals, I can see now that we take this even further through remembrance trees and services at Christmas.”

Both Taleah and Bruce exemplify the growing trend of young individuals thriving in unconventional careers, finding fulfilment and purpose in professions that may seem surprising to others.
