WATCH: Sunrisers Hyderabad Celebrate Their Record-Breaking Win Over Mumbai Indians in Style
Sunrisers Hyderabad went registerd the highest ever IPL total of 277/3 before sealing a 31-run over Mumbai Indians.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s young cricket sensation Abhishek Sharma celebrated his side’s record-breaking win over the Mumbai Indians on Wednesday in style. After their historic victory, SRH uploaded a video of the team’s celebrations on X. In the video, the players could be seen making their way to the hotel lobby post-game where a scrumptious-looking white cake awaited them. Aussie batter Travis Head and Abhishek were spotted cutting the cake together with the team surrounding them. Next, we see Abhishek’s face getting covered with the cake’s white cream by one of his teammates amidst the celebrations. Addressing the hilarious scenes, SRH wrote in their caption, “An innings so good, it had to be rewarded… With cake on Abhishek Sharma’s face. The post-match vibes were immaculate.”

Playing at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on March 27, SRH produced one of the greatest-ever batting performances in T20 cricket. They broke the record for the highest total in the competition’s history while bagging a convincing win over MI. The visiting side put SRH to bat first at the end of the toss. It was Travis Head who got things going early for the 2016 IPL winners, as he smashed 62 runs in 24 balls. He even broke the record for the fastest fifty for SRH which was toppled later by Abhishek Sharma. Abhishek finished the innings with a 23-ball 63 against the five-time IPL champions. The best performance in the game, however, was delivered by Heinrich Klaasen who added 80 runs for SRH in a mere 34 balls.

The impressive knocks from the SRH trio saw the side score a whopping 277 runs in the first innings, surpassing Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s 2013 tally of 263. The second half was no slower either as MI went on a rampage to chase down the formidable total. Powerful knocks from Tilak Varma and Tim David enabled the side to reach 246 runs before running out of overs. In the end, MI had to settle for a 31-run defeat which marked their second successive loss in this year’s IPL campaign.

Speaking of Abhishek Sharma, the young cricketer first came into the limelight in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy during his debut with Punjab. The now-23-year-old talent led India in the U-19 Asia Cup in 2016 while also playing an important role in the 2018 U-19 World Cup. He was first acquired by Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2018 after which he made his debut for the SRH in 2019. Abhishek produced his best IPL season in 2022 when he smashed 426 runs in the competition. He had a brilliant start this year and is currently on 95 runs in just two games.

Abhishek Sharma will be hoping to add some more runs to his team’s next game against Gujarat Titans on March 31.
