Rohit Sharma's Animated Celebration as Hardik Pandya Picks a Wicket vs Bangladesh: WATCH
Rohit was jubilant, and so was Hardik and every Indian player on having the opening breakthrough against Bangladesh

Celebrating a wicket more passionately than the bowler who bagged has been Virat Kohli’s style. One cannot take his eyes off when he brings out his gestures after a dismissal. But on Saturday, Rohit Sharma was seen in the same mode; probably he took out a leaf from Kohli’s book and let his emotions flow. The Indian captain’s unfiltered celebration sent sparked a sense of confidence in the entire team after Suryakumar Yadav took a diving catch to dismiss Bangladesh opener Liton Das in their second T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 Fixture in Antigua.

Chasing 192, Bangladesh lost Das in the 5th over, who walked across the stumps to pull over the leg-side boundary. But he couldn’t time it well and Suryakumar ran in and completed a remarkable diving catch.

Rohit was jubilant, and so was Hardik and every Indian player on having the opening breakthrough. The Indian skipper’s actions were so energetic, that it compelled the broadcaster to talk about it in the post-match presentation ceremony.

Speaking about his celebration, Rohit said, “[It was] Excitement and if we discuss something with the bowler and when it comes off, it’s nice.”

Hardik is an important player for us

The Indian captain heaped massive praise on Hardik Pandya for his heroics which earned him the Player of the Match award. The Indian vice-captain scored the first half-century by an Indian at No. 6 in a T20 World Cup game and also took a wicket in the winning cause.

“I mentioned in the last game as well, his batting well puts us in a good stead. We want to finish well and Hardik being Hardik we know what he is capable of.”

“He is a very important player for us, if he can keep doing that, it will put us in good positions,” said the skipper.

Indian batters also showed more intent asthere were quickfire 30s from the likes of Virat Kohli (37), Rishabh Pant (36) and Shivam Dube (34). The skipper himself set the tone with 23 off 11 balls.

“I have been talking about this for a long time now. It’s about going there and putting that into work. Considering everything we played really well, adapted to the conditions. All eight batters need to play their role, whatever it is. We saw one guy get 50 and we got 197, in T20 I don’t believe we need to get fifties and hundreds, what matters is the pressure you put on the bowlers,” Rohit said.

“All the batters from the word go played well and that’s how we want to play as well. There is a lot of experience in the squad and we back them,” he said about the perfect execution of the game plan,” he added.
