In addition to his omission, yet another veteran who has run out of favour with CA seems to be white-ball spinner Ashton Agar, whose name was remiss from the list as well.

It’s that time of the year again when one looks forward to the future. And well, for Marcus Stoinis and his Australia international career, the near future looks bleak as the all-rounder was one of four names to be dismissed from being offered a new national contract by Cricket Australia for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

Cricket Australia has released its list of 23 players who have successfully acquired a contract for the upcoming 2024/25 season, with Stoinis being left out.

Despite his injury struggles, Stoinis has retained his position in the team as a role player in the squad, especially the one that won the ODI World Cup in 2023. As one of the more well-rounded all-rounders in the squad, Stoinis will also be expected to make the cut for the upcoming T20 World Cup this year in June.

In addition to his omission, yet another veteran who has run out of favour with CA seems to be white-ball spinner Ashton Agar, whose name was remiss from the list as well.

The other names include the now-retired David Warner, and his potential replacement Marcus Harris, who was expected to break into the Test side eventually.

White-ball slugger Matt Short, Western Australia all-rounder Aaron Hardie and Tasmanian quick Nathan Ellis joined Bartlett, who made a stunning ODI debut at the MCG, are all the new additions made to the list for the upcoming season.

“Matt, Aaron and Xavier have been extremely impressive in the early stages of their international careers,” said CA chief seelctor Geroge Bailey on the newcomers.

“Their performances and the way they have embraced the international stage has been exciting to watch.

“The panel believes they have strong futures and are deserved of their contracts as they work towards striving to become regulars in the Australian setup, ” concluded Bailey.
