Royal Challengers Bengaluru wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik has been invited to join the five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Chennai Super Kings camp next season by Ruturaj Gaikwad. Ahead of Bengaluru’s upcoming fixture against Chennai, Karthik decided to host a Q and A session on Instagram. Karthik urged the fans to send him all the questions they wanted answered. “Guys it’s raining here, I need to go for practice but luckily where I’m going, there’s very little rain. So let’s go to practice, any questions you all have, please do ask me and I will try to reply to them”, he said. This sparked a hilarious response from Chennai skipper Gaikwad who wrote, “Next IPL franchise? CSK?” The Bengaluru wicketkeeper played along by saying, “Ruturaj Gaikwad, Role definition please? Skipper”.

In another reply, Dinesh Karthik also provided a rainfall check in Bengaluru. A fan seemed to be curious about the city’s weather. Seeing that the recent fixtures in the IPL have led to no result due to precipitation, the fan wanted to ensure that tomorrow’s game between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings saw no interruptions. He asked Karthik, “Anna how is Bengaluru’s weather? Is it raining?”. Karthik responded by saying that the weather was slowly getting better. He shared a video in response to the question on Instagram where he said, “As of now it’s very, very good. Fingers crossed for tomorrow”.
Dinesh Karthik and Ruturaj Gaikwad will cross paths on Saturday’s IPL fixture at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Both the Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru will be vying to qualify for the playoffs on Saturday. Chennai are currently in fourth place on the IPL 2024 points table with seven wins from 13 games. A victory tomorrow will seal their place in the final four. Whereas, Bengaluru will have to secure a sizeable win against Chennai to make the top four. A narrow victory, won’t be enough for the Faf du Plessis-led side due to their inferior net run-rate.
As for Dinesh Karthik, the 38-year-old has been phenomenal this season for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He has lived up to his moniker as a finisher, putting up some memorable performances in the ongoing season. He has amassed 301 runs in 13 games this season at a commendable strike rate of 194.19. Karthik’s tally comprises two half-centuries including his high score of 83.
