Mumbai: The rupee on Friday edged lower by 1 paisa to 64.46 against the dollar due to fresh buying of the American currency by importers.

On Thursday, rupee had gained 9 paise to end at an over three-week high of 64.45 amid unabated rise in domestic equities.
Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex climbed 72.37 points, or 0.22 per cent, to a new record 32,109.75 in opening trade.
