The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana has completed 5 years. According to reports, so far about 10 crore people in the country have benefited from it. This scheme, which provides free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh, is very useful for the poor. Therefore, the government has prepared for some major changes in the scheme after 5 years.
In the coming time, the scope of Ayushman Yojana and its package system will be completely changed. Under this, it is believed that after a certain age limit, everyone, rich and poor, will be given its benefit.
The Union Health Ministry has advocated for further improvements in the scheme. For this, a committee was also formed under the chairmanship of NITI Aayog member (Health), Dr Vinod Paul. This committee will soon submit its report and recommendations to the Health Ministry, and based on that, a blueprint for changes in the scheme will be prepared. It is expected that the committee will submit its report soon.
What Changes Are Being Planned?
It is being speculated that more and more hospitals in the country will be added under the Ayushman Yojana. Hospitals in small cities will also be included in this so that people can get treatment facilities quickly. Apart from this, there are also preparations to improve the package system of the scheme. Currently, free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh is being provided under the scheme, but its scope can also be increased. It is also being speculated that this scope can be increased to 7 to 10 lakh.
Bills Will Be Paid Quickly
Under the scheme, a new system will be developed to ensure quick payment of hospital bills. After the report is received, it will be decided what kind of payment system should be developed that can settle the bills easily. Apart from this, discussions are also going on on issues like expanding the scope of the scheme.
The biggest change in the scheme is likely to be for the elderly. It is believed that all people above 70 years of age will be brought under this scheme. Its purpose is to provide free treatment facilities to the elderly. Therefore, there can be a big change in providing treatment based on age instead of income. Then the elderly of the middle class will also get its benefit.
