The Much-Awaited Triumph Thruxton R Launched at Rs 10.9 Lakh
The Thruxton R is Triumph's third product in the Bonneville range of bikes.

Triumph has launched the 1200cc Thruxton R, the third product in the Bonneville range of bikes sold in India, at a price of Rs 10.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The cafe racer version of the T120, Triumph’s latest product is powered by the same engine but comes equipped with a ‘low-inertia crank’ allowing the engine to feel much smoother.

The liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine puts out 9 horsepower at 6750 rpm and 112 Nm of torque at 4950 rpm, and is connected to a six-speed transmission. In terms of technology, the bike gets ride-by-wire technology and traction control as standard, three riding modes – Sport, Road and Rain, along with torque assist clutch.

It’s also not a heavy bike for its segment, weighing in at 203 kilos (dry), as compared to 224 kilos (dry) weight of the T120 - despite sharing the same double-cradle chassis. Suspension duties are handled by Showa forks at the front and Ohlin twin-shocks at the back, both of which are fully adjustable.

To stop the bike, the British automaker has fitted twin 310 mm Brembo monobloc calipers at the front and 220 mm Nissin caliper single-disc brakes at the back.

The Thruxton R will be offered in two color schemes – Diablo Red and Silver Frost. It will be interesting to see how the bike performs in a price sensitive market like India, where it faces competition both internally, from the T120, and externally from the like of Harley Davidson 1200 Custom, which also offers a 1200 cc engine but at a much more affordable price.
