Tata Tigor Launched in India at Rs 4.70 Lakh, Ex-Showroom Delhi
The Tata Tigor looks apart from the crowd as it sports a coupe-like body shape which Tata Motors call ‘Styleback’.

Tata Motors has had a good run when it comes to clocking sales numbers ever since the introduction of the Tiago, which was then followed by the launch of their flagship SUV Tata Hexa. Continuing with their new design language ‘Impact’, the Indian automaker has launched their offering into the sub-4 metre compact sedan segment with the Tigor which will be available at a starting price tag of Rs 4.70 Lakh for the petrol variant and Rs 5.60 Lakh for the diesel variant (all prices ex-showroom, New Delhi).

The Tigor is a bit more than just a Tiago with a boot slapped on its back as it sports a coupe-like body shape which Tata Motors call ‘Styleback’.

Under the hood, it is powered by the 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel engine and the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine which also do duty on the Tiago, and it comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission setup.

Design highlights include smoked projector headlamps in the front, split-LED tail lamps at the back which are accentuated by the large chrome strip giving the Tigor a bold stance on road. There’s also the high-mounted LED stop light which runs across the length of the car and is a neat addition by Tata Motors.

On the inside, the cabin layout remains largely similar to the one seen in the Tiago but now it comes with blacked-out steering wheel, increase in compartment spaces and a restyled air-con control unit. The biggest attraction inside the cabin, though, has to be the ConnectNext touchscreen infotainment system which supports the usual AUX, USB, Bluetooth audio and telephony, Navigation and voice command controls which can be operated through the steering mounted controls. This system comes connected to an 8-speaker sound system that has been developed with Harman Kardon.

Tata Motors’ latest offering competes with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Hyundai XCent, Honda Amaze and Volkswagen Ameo. The various variants of the car launched today along with their ex-showroom Delhi prices are as follows:

XE - Rs 4.7 lakh
