Greater Noida: Renault has added more models to its lineup of the the hotselling Kwid at the Auto Expo - the Kwid 1.0 Litre SCe and Kwid Easy. The Kwid 1.0, as the name suggests comes with a more powerful 1.0-litre engine.
According to Renault, the engine in the Kwid 1.0 has 4 valves per cylinder and double over head camshaft layout to offer usable power across the entire rev range.
Renault also showcased the Kwid Easy-R that comes equipped with an all-new 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). The innovative gear shift control dial in the Easy-R includes three modes - reverse, neutral and drive.
It also includes a crawl function to help move the car forward and backward slowly without any throttle input. The car includes a touchscreen navigation system.
Renault also showcased two Kwid concepts at the Auto Expo - the Kwid Climber and the Kwid Racer.
The Kwid Climber off-roader has a high ground clearance, big bumpers, side protective mouldings and diamond effect wheels. It has a deep flame orange finish.
The Kwid Racer, according to Renault, "belongs to an entirely different category of car" and includes 18-inch alloy wheels, low-profile tyres, bucket seats and a roll cage. It comes in a sporty finish.
The Kwid has turned out to be game changer for Renault in India. The car has has received over one lakh bookings since its launch four months ago. With the launch of the Kwid 1.0 and the Easy-R, Renault is aiming to build on the quick success of the Kwid.
