Mahindra Racing Formula E Team Wins Double Podium at New York City ePrix
After winning a double podium at the Berlin ePrix last month, Mahindra Racing has won yet another double podium and this time at the New York City ePrix. The win came in the second race of the inaugural New York City ePrix weekend, after a disappointing first race at the Brooklyn circuit.

The 2017 Formula E season has proven to be the best season for the Mahindra Racing Team yet. After winning a double podium at the Berlin ePrix last month, Mahindra Racing has won yet another double podium and this time at the New York City ePrix. The win came in the second race of the inaugural New York City ePrix weekend, making it even more special for the Indian outfit.

The team saw a major disappointment at the first race held in the Brooklyn Terminal Circuit, which was run on Saturday. While Felix Rosenqvist finished 15th in the first race, Nick Heidfeld was forced to retire from 7th position with suspension damage. But the disappointment couldn’t hold back both the driver’s from winning a double podium next day.

The duo, driving the all-electric M3Electro race car, reached Formula E’s unique Super Pole shootout session to start the race and finished 2nd and 3rd on the podium, with Felix Rosenqvist winning the second spot and Nick winning the third spot. Sam Bird was declared the eventual winner at the New York City ePrix.

Felix also scored the maiden win for his Formula E team during the Berlin ePrix, during the double podium stint, where Nick won the 3rd spot. Speaking on the occasion, Dilbagh Gill, Team Principal, Mahindra racing, said, “I am delighted to secure our second double podium result of the season in this inaugural New York City ePrix weekend. We cannot hide from the disappointment of the opening race on Saturday, but it made us even hungrier to get a fitting result in Sunday’s extended race. This has been an important weekend for Mahindra Racing, so to end it with the second and third place is really positive. We have shown that we can bounce back from a difficult race, and our aim now is to finish the championship on a high."

With this win, Mahindra Racing is now at the 3rd spot in the constructors’ championship and 3rd and 6th at the Drivers’ championship, with Felix on 3rd and Nick on 6th spot. For the next race, Formula E is moving to Canada at the Montreal ePrix circuit.
