In a move to contribute to the EV segment, and offer more choices in the section, the premium car maker Kia plans to launch two mass-market EVs in India. It has been reported that the company will introduce the products in the next 18 months.
As per the details shared by the President & CEO of Kia, Ho Sung Song, the company will turn one of its hot-selling products Carens into an EV. The second model of the mass-market EVs has not been revealed yet.
Expected Launch Period?
Some reports suggested that it is likely to be a Clavis EV. However, the brand has not confirmed the details for the second model as yet. Both the battery-powered models are expected to arrive in the second half of next year.
While talking at the Kia’s Investor Day 2024, Song also informed that the tech-loaded EV9 will also be released in the country later this year. By the end of 2027, the company is expected to add 15 new EVs.
Newly Launch Refreshed Range
Meanwhile, the Kia has launched the refreshed version of Seltos and Carens. The former has received two new additions to the fleet, while the latter now has an overall 30 variants to choose from.
Talking about the new range in Seltos, the model comes with a long list of advanced features. The model gets a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, improved star map LED-connected tail lamps, similar LED headlights, paddle shifters, drive and traction control modes, a multi-functional steering wheel, and automatic climate control, among others.
Refreshed Carens
When it comes to the Carens, the company has added a brand-new color option, Pewter Olive. It will be available in all trims, except X-Line variants. The brand also has included a choice of 8 monotone, 3 dual-tone options, and 1 exclusive colour for X-Line.
