Honda's New Patent Hints At Secret Storage In Electric Car Bumpers
Honda patents hidden bumper storage for EVs, revolutionizing secure deliveries. Innovative concept awaits production confirmation.

In a recent development, Honda has applied for a patent with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) unveiling a clever addition to electric vehicles – hidden storage compartments in the bumpers.

This patent introduces a revolutionary slide-out drawer discreetly integrated into the rear bumper of an EV. The primary purpose of this inventive storage space is to cater to a future scenario where vehicles can serve as designated delivery locations. The idea is to enhance the security of delivered packages by providing a safer alternative to leaving them on the front porch of a residence.

According to Motor Authority, the storage compartment will be accessible to third parties while keeping the rest of the vehicle inaccessible. It will feature its own locking system separate from the car’s doors and trunk. Additionally, the storage area will be equipped with its own air conditioning, ensuring packages remain in good condition even on scorching days.

However, it’s essential to note that, like any other patent application, the realization of this innovative concept by Honda is yet to be confirmed. Only time will tell whether this cutting-edge idea will make its way into the production phase.
