Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) reported an 8.7 percent increase in domestic sales at 18,950 units in March. The company had sold 17,430 units in the same month last year, HCIL said in a statement.
Last month, the company sold 540 units of small car Brio, 3,527 units of premium hatchback Jazz, 3,296 units of compact sedan Amaze and 6,271 units of mid-sized sedan City. The company also sold 3,833 units of its new compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) WR-V. Besides, it sold 1,436 units of SUV BR-V. The company also sold 19 units of SUV CR-V and 28 units of Accord Hybrid during the last month.
In addition, it exported a total of 145 units during the month under review.
Commenting on the sales performance, HCIL President and CEO Yoichiro Ueno said: "Strong sales momentum for our latest offerings in the market, new Honda City 2017 and Honda WR-V, helped us achieve good sales result during March 2017."
“As we enter into the new fiscal year, we are confident of a strong show in 2017-18 with a robust product-portfolio and good demand from the market," he added.
