Greaves Electric Mobility Private Limited (GEMPL), the electric mobility arm of Greaves Cotton Limited, has taken a big step in its global expansion strategy by inaugurating its first showroom in Nepal.
In collaboration with the Kedia Organisation, a distinguished business conglomerate, GEMPL is set to make its mark in Nepal’s electric mobility sector.
The Kedia Organisation has been appointed as the exclusive authorized distributor for Ampere Electric two-wheelers in Nepal, covering sales, marketing, distribution, and after-sales support.
The strategic alliance aims to capitalize on the burgeoning demand for electric two-wheelers in the country, fueled by an increasing awareness of environmental sustainability and the government’s proactive support for electric vehicles.
Ampere Electric, a brand under GEMPL, has unveiled its flagship showroom in Teku, Kathmandu, marking the beginning of a series of outlets and dealerships planned across the nation. The allure of electric two-wheelers is particularly strong in Nepal, given its challenging Himalayan terrain and rising fuel costs, positioning the country as a promising market for the electric mobility industry.
For the Nepalese market, Ampere is introducing two key models: the Ampere Primus and the Ampere Magnus EX. The Ampere Primus boasts a 4 kW mid-mounted motor with a belt final drive, a 3 kWh battery pack offering a claimed range of over 100 km on a single charge and a swift 0 to 40 kmph acceleration in 4.2 seconds. The top speed is estimated at 77 kmph, and the battery can be charged from 0 to 100 percent in approximately 5 hours.
Expressing his enthusiasm about the collaboration, Mr. Sanjay Behl, CEO of Greaves Electric Mobility Pvt. Ltd., was quoted by Financial Express saying, “We are thrilled to announce our foray into Nepal as a significant stride in our global expansion. Meanwhile, the Ampere Magnus EX caters to city driving with a top speed of 53 km and features a 1.8 kW motor, achieving a 0 to 40 mph performance in 10 seconds. The Magnus EX introduces two riding modes, Super Saver Eco Mode and Power Mode, providing users with options for an extended range or enhanced performance as needed. The scooter is equipped with a powerful LED headlight and offers a spacious legroom of 450 mm.
