Cannes Film Festival 2018 - Formula E's Cheetah vs Racecar Video Bags Best Short Film Award
The video clinched Best Short Film during the Positive Planet Foundation's Positive Cinema Week in Cannes.

Last year in November, Formula E – the all-electric high-speed motorsports championship decided to promote themselves in a rather unusual way. What they did was race a Formula E racecar against the fastest animal on Earth – the Cheetah. And they actually shot a video of a racecar and Cheetah racing against each other with Formula E car winning the race.

After winning the race against Cheetah, Formula E has won another race of best short film at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival 2018. The video clinched Best Short Film during the Positive Planet Foundation's Positive Cinema Week in Cannes.

Won up against 17 other films, the awards were presented during the gala dinner, which rounded off a week of positive films and documentaries screened in the city of Cannes. Collecting the award on behalf of Formula E was its Founder and CEO Alejandro Agag alongside JEV (Jean-Eric Vergne of Techeetah Formula E team, who raced against the Cheetah).

Aside from being the fastest land animal, the cheetah is one of the most endangered creatures on the planet. With just 7000 remaining in the wild, the species is wide-ranging and sparsely distributed, needing large landscapes to survive, which makes it particularly vulnerable to habitat loss.

The Formula E, on the other hand, is promoting sustainable future and aims to provide a solution to climate change by acting as catalyst for the electric vehicles. The global motorsport championship, encourages more people to switch to smart, electric mobility, and make our society cleaner for future generations, while helping to preserve habitats for species like the cheetah.
