The BYD Seal sedan is making waves in the Indian market, securing over 1,000 bookings within just three months since its price reveal.
This electric vehicle (EV), marking Chinese manufacturer BYD’s third offering in India after the Atto 3 SUV and the e6MPV, hit the roads on March 5.
Within a mere two weeks of its launch, the Seal had already secured 500 reservations, with the next 500 rolling in steadily over the following two months. Priced between Rs 41 lakh to Rs 53 lakh (ex-showroom), it stands as BYD’s priciest EV available in India.
The BYD Seal offers three variants: Dynamic, Premium, and Performance. The vehicle is further offered in four colors – Arctic Blue, Atlantis Grey, Cosmos Black, and Aurora White.
Drawing inspiration from BYD’s ‘Ocean Aesthetics’ design philosophy, the Seal sports a captivating exterior reminiscent of the Ocean X concept unveiled in 2021. Notable design elements include a coupe-like roofline, split headlamps with boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights, a full-width LED light bar at the rear, flush door handles, and striking 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
The feature highlights include a 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a heads-up display, luxurious leather upholstery, 10 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS.
Under the hood, the Seal rides on BYD’s e-platform 3.0, shared with the Atto 3 and the Dolphin, but features an 800V electrical architecture. Its batteries, available in two sizes, utilize BYD’s patented blade technology. The smaller 61.44kWh battery pairs with a rear-axle-mounted electric motor, delivering 201bhp and 310Nm of torque, with a claimed range of 510km.
