Indian skipper Rohit Sharma managed to finish his World Cup campaign with a quick 47 off 31 deliveries. Despite missing out on his half-century, he managed to set a new record for the most runs scored by a captain in ODI World Cup history.
Rohit Sharma has finished his World Cup campaign with the bat with a total of 597 runs in his 11 games. He surpassed the Kiwi skipper, Kane Williamson to set the new record. The New Zealand skipper managed to hold the record in the 2019 World Cup edition where he finished with 578 runs in 9 innings.

Rohit Sharma has had a stellar campaign with the bat. He has been a pivotal part of why India has been able to remain undefeated in the tournament so far. His knocks gave India the start required as he was the one who shouldered the responsibility of taking the risks with the new ball and giving some quick runs at the start.

His consistency was there as he managed to score fourties in his next two innings against Bangladesh and New Zealand. Rohit was crucial in India’s win over England as he scored a valiant 87 to help India set up a defendable total allowing India’s bowlers to let loose.

Despite the quick dismissal against Sri Lanka, he was back amongst the runs as he managed to get a 40 against South Africa followed by a 61 against Netherlands as they remained undefeated in the league stage of the campaign.
In the semi-finals as well Rohit was crucial as he scored 47 to help India start off strong in the first innings.
Despite India’s collapse with the bat, Rohit managed to start off well giving India a boost in runs, but the team were unable to capitalise on it as Australia showed their mettle in the big games. Team India will hope to come back strong in the second innings.
