Video: Putin’s ‘Bye Kim’ Gesture While Wrapping Up North Korea Visit Goes Viral
The video of Russian President Vladimir Putin waving goodbye to ally North Korean leader Kim Jong Un went viral on social media.

A video where Russian President Vladimir Putin is seen waving goodbye to North Korean counterpart Kim Jong Un has gone viral on social media. The video, first shared by UK-based Daily Mail, appears to have been captured as Putin’s presidential flight was departing Pyongyang after he completed his state visit earlier this week.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday that Moscow and Pyongyang were fighting “US hegemony”, while North Korea’s Kim Jong Un claimed their partnership furthered “peace and stability” in the Asia-Pacific region.

The rare state visit is the first time in over two decades that Putin has set foot in the nation whose leader is considered an international pariah.

The visit also gave many viral video clips, including the one mentioned earlier, as the world watched these two leaders meet.

A separate video where Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un take turns in driving an Aurus limousine has also gone viral on social media. Another video where Kim Jong Un is seen welcoming Putin to sit inside the designated car before him has also gone viral.

The two leaders signed a “comprehensive strategic partnership” to further deepen military, economic and political ties.

“Today, we are fighting together against the hegemonism and neo-colonial practices of the United States and its satellites,” Russian state news agencies quoted Putin as saying.

Kim called the treaty signed between the countries a “grand, great programme that will faithfully guarantee Korean-Russian relations for a century.”

He said it “fully contributes to maintaining peace and stability in the region” and would put the “security situation of both countries on a more reliable foundation,” Russian state news agencies reported.

The growing alliance between Moscow and Pyongyang has caused alarm in South Korea as well as in the West and in Ukraine.

The United States and its allies have accused North Korea of providing ammunition and missiles to Russia to fire on Ukraine, and Kyiv has reported finding fragments of North Korean munitions on the battlefield.
