One thing that social media has taught all skincare lovers is that we need to take care of our skin all the time. Simply removing makeup before going to bed is insufficient; maintaining a proper routine, even while travelling, is essential. If you are a skincare enthusiast, you have probably seen innumerable Instagram posts or videos demonstrating in-flight skincare regimes. Do you know one should never wear makeup on a plane? According to reports, it is not good to wear makeup before travelling on a plane because it can have a negative effect on the skin.
Everyone knows how great Korean skincare is. Recently, a skin expert shared his opinion on social media that nothing can be worse than wearing makeup on a flight.
Makeup applied during air travel dries out the skin. When the skin dries, it automatically starts releasing oil. So, all the makeup on our faces becomes like a paste from the oil.
Not only this, skin experts also shared that wearing makeup in the flight causes changes in blood flow which is very harmful for the skin. The quality of air at an altitude of 30 thousand feet is not good for the skin at all. According to them, the toxins present in this air damage the skin cells and break down collagen. This causes the skin to deteriorate quickly. Not only this, but ultraviolet rays also damage the skin when exposed to the sun’s rays. It is good to apply sun protection cream in such a situation.
Now, let’s take a look at an expert-recommended skin care routine while flying:
Cleanse: Before the flight, use a moderate cleanser to remove impurities from the skin. If you don’t have enough time to cleanse your face before the trip, you can carry a moist wipe, cleansing water, and cotton pads.
Hydrate: Apply a moisturising serum or sheet mask. Proper hydration maintains the skin’s suppleness and firmness, which improves barrier function.
Moisturise: While travelling, use a rich moisturiser to lock in hydration, and don’t shy away from reapplying it.
Mist: Because of the cabin air, you must hydrate your skin frequently. You may do this with a facial mist or rose water.
Eye cream: Don’t forget to pack your favourite eye cream and apply it to prevent puffiness and dryness.
Lip Balm: Make sure you have a moisturising lip balm with you. You may also use lip oil or moisturising gloss instead of balm.
SPF: Yes, you should apply sunscreen even when flying. To guard against UV radiation, experts recommend using sunscreen during daytime flights.
