These fins also help them to swim quickly inside the sea, whenever they encounter a predator.

The body of a flying fish is blue, black, white, and silver in colour. It is an omnivorous fish that can be 15 cm to 51 cm long and can weigh up to 900 grams. These fish are a part of the Exocoetidae family, and there are more than 40 species of them that exist in the ocean. But in recent times, these species have been in danger of extinction as human fishing has been on the rise.

These flying fish swim towards the surface of the water at a speed of 3 feet per second. Before taking flight, they flap their tails rapidly, about 70 times a second, and keep their wings close to their bodies. After this, as soon as they come out of the water surface, they spread their wings and then start flying in the air.
