At some point, everyone has wished to spend their time in bed instead of getting up and running errands. Now, it appears that a person has taken his love for staying in the bed to an extra mile by making a motor-powered bed-cum-vehicle. Recently, an X user shared a video of this invention. The video showed a man operating a bed fitted with wheels and a motor. A cycle handle is also installed into the vehicle to give it direction. The man easily takes this vehicle to a short distance to get a cup of tea before returning home and getting right back to sleep.
Just by the looks of it, one can say that this bed-cum-vehicle was improvised out of scrap material. Despite its impressive design, it is unclear if it is legal to drive such makeshift vehicles on public roads. Nonetheless, this invention is raking in thousands of likes on social media. This video has gathered over 1.1 million views since it was posted on April 30. The video was simply captioned, “I want this bed on wheels.” One X user described this invention as the “Laziest thing I saw today”.

This is not the first time that someone has made a bed that also operates as a vehicle. In 2022, Zhu Jianqiang from China went viral for creating a movable bed. Zhu, who is a mechanic, made this bed out of scrap material. He worked on his own design for a movable battery-powered bed for a week. He spent 1,809 Chinese Yuan (approximately Rs 20,000) to finish it.

Zhu’s bed is also fitted with a canopy that can provide shade and protection from sun, rain and harsh winds. This way, the bed is fit to be used outside. While speaking to Now This Impact, Zhu said that as a child he would often wonder what it would be like to have a bed that he could drive to different places. By designing and making this bed, he fulfilled his childhood dream. The 39-year-old said that even though he is only using the bed near his house for leisure, in future, he wants to perfect this design and perhaps sell it.
