No sweet treat has a cult following quite like cakes, and for all good reasons! After all, what’s better than a mix of butter, flavor-infused icing, milk, dark chocolate, or chocolate chips? If you too have a sweet tooth, then you must have your favourite cake flavour, ranging from blueberry to chocolate, black forest to red velvet. But the icing of that one single flavour has become outdated. In this era of culinary experimentation, how can we miss the opportunity to try numerous new cake flavours or a mix of 100 layers of such icing?
Yes, you read that right. A baker created a mammoth cake with not one, not two, but 100 layers of icing. A cake decorator from Sydney named Emma O’Hanrahan recently took cake lovers by storm by crafting a 100-layer cake. Sharing the video with his followers online, the cake decorator has received a lot of interest, as internet users can’t take their eyes off of this impressive creation.
The video unfolds to show Emma introducing herself and explaining that from the last five days she has been adding a whopping 100 layers of icing to create a 4-inch cake into an impressive 13-inch creation. She further mentions that the weight of the cake is 23.3 kilograms, equal to the weight of an 8-year-old child. Emma then showcases the blush pink 100-layer cake adorned with dark pink icing. She then ditches the usual knife and opts for a giant hand saw, typically used for sawing wood, to cut the layers of cake.
She slices the cake right down the centre with precision. Emma O’Hanrahan then spins the cake towards the camera, and the look of the colourful layers of icing and a small cake in the centre is truly mesmerising and is sure to leave you drooling.
The Instagram user shared the video with the caption, “Here it is—the cutting of the 100-layer cake. It was so worth the wait! It’s been a crazy few days and a lot of hours spent icing, but we hope you’ve enjoyed our series. Stick around for plenty more cake content and to see what we come up with next!”

Needless to say, the Instagram reel caught the attention of many online. Within a few days of being shared, the video has received more than 10 million views and over 700,000 likes so far. Social media users thronged the comment section to appreciate Emma’s hard work. Some found the video satisfying and cool; while others praised the effort Emma gave to make this 100-layer cake.
An Instagram user commented, “That’s the amount of frosting I want on my slice of cake, not even joking.”
Curious about the making of the cake, a user inquired, “Is it 100 layers of actual cake or 100 layers of buttercream on a 4-inch cake?”
“This has cracked me up – so good,” a user wrote.
An account remarked, “Extremely epic experiment!! As someone who also decorates cakes, I appreciate the effort put into this and even with the people who do unfollow your page grew quite a bit in this short time so it was totally worth it!!”
“I’m not unfollowing because she put so much effort into this. I love it,” a foodie mentioned.
“For some reason, I was expecting 100 layers of cake. This is really cool and also kinda funny how it’s like a door of cake,” praised a user.
Stunned by the art, an individual wrote, “That looks incredible! So, satisfying.”
“Guys please don’t unfollow, she has worked so hard,” requested an Instagram user.
